I'm very new to putting together hardware on this level, but luckily I have a friend who's very well educated in this area. He was trying to explain to me how one could use an FPGA to route to 4 CPUs and essentially design a (primitive) PC motherboard earlier tonight, but I'm nowhere near that level so most of it went over my head. I'll probably contribute some code though, as I'm good with the software side of things.

I figure the first step would be to start buying some hardware, but I haven't found a document which specifies exactly what hardware I'll need. I thought there was something on the website when the project first went public, so I'm guessing I'm just missing it. It this list doesn't exist, then I'd like to contribute to the documentation aspect of the project. So let me know if/where I can download this list or if I should jump right into the schematic and start writing down all the parts that I see.
